A Codex skill for safely aligning both the persistent GitHub Spec Kit CLI and the managed files in an existing Spec Kit project with an official stable GitHub release.

What It Does

• Resolves the latest stable tag from GitHub Releases instead of hardcoding a version
• Audits the persistent specify executable, version, and installation method
• Uses specify self check and specify self upgrade on current CLI versions
• Falls back to the owning uv tool or pipx installer for older versions
• Upgrades project integrations through manifest-aware specify integration upgrade
• Refreshes installed extensions without silently overwriting customized managed files
• Distinguishes optional third-party workflows, bundles, and presets from the routine core upgrade
• Verifies the CLI and reviews the project diff after changes

The workflow follows GitHub's official Upgrade Guide and treats GitHub Releases as the stable-release source of truth.

Install

Copy the repository to your Codex skills directory:
