donatj/README.md

Hello!

I am a PHP, Go and TypeScript developer based in Minneapolis.

I work across the entire stack, but I’m happiest in the backend. Moving data, pushing bytes around, making things fast.

I ❤️ tiny reusable parts with single responsibilities and no side effects. I keep code simple, clear, and easy for anyone to read.

I’ve spent fifteen years in EdTech keeping old systems running and new ones from catching fire. Before that I built industrial and B2B tools where things had to work because people depended on them.

What I've been up to recently

I’ve been deep in AlikeColorFinder, extending its CSS color handling toward modern HDR color syntax. The goal is to keep the tool useful for catching confusingly similar colors as CSS gains a wider, more expressive color vocabulary.

I’ve also been making MDDoc a more complete PHP documentation generator. It can now better follow Composer autoloaders and document enums, while I continue improving its ability to find declarations that live inside nested language constructs instead of quietly leaving them out.

I’ve kept tinkering with picopass, my small TinyGo experiment for a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W that acts as a physical keyboard for time, saved text, and disposable TOTP codes. I’ve been refining its button behavior and generally trying to make the little desk gadget more intentional without losing the fun of the experiment.

What I have been thinking about

I’ve been thinking about how much good code review still matters as tools make it cheaper to try ideas and reshape code: changes are most useful when people can still understand, evaluate, and confidently extend what lands.
